Intake Visit

Normally, we like to start by having a 15-minute telephone consultation to make sure that proceeding to a first appointment makes sense. To schedule one, please get in contact via telephone or email. If appropriate, Dr Hamilton will send you the various intake forms via the online system to get you started.

An intake assessment takes between 60 and 90 minutes (depending on availibility), and includes discussion of your goals for treatment, symptoms you may have been having, your previous treatment history (including what did or did not work about prior treatment), medical conditions, as well as other important aspects of your life (such as career, family, spirituality, or aspirations). This is also your opportunity to see whether you feel a connection with your therapist, and whether their methods seem likely to help you reach your goals.

Follow-up sessions occur generally weekly or bi-weekly for 55 minutes, although this is flexible based on your symptoms, treatment goals, and budget/availability.

Dr Hamilton is happy to meet either in person or virtually, although you may wish to check whether your insurance benefits cover telehealth if you would like those options.
